Cleveland, OH (September 6, 2011) – The Cleveland APL is joining PetSmart Charities’ ® National Adoption Weekend celebration this weekend to raise awareness about the need to adopt homeless animals.

PetSmart Charities’PetSmart Charities is hosting its National Adoption Weekend September 9th – September 11th in PetSmart stores nationwide. This three-day sponsored adoption event focuses on assisting Adoption Partners and new pet parents save the lives of thousands of homeless animals across the country. The Cleveland APL is honored to participate in this event this Saturday at the PetSmart in Willoughby from 11a.m. – 4p.m. We will have our mobile adoption unit, Rover, full of cats and kittens available for adoption with reduced adoption fees. What better way is there to make a difference then by adopting an animal and bringing it into your home and heart? September 10th, 2011, at the Willoughby PetSmart store, adoption fees for one kitten (up to 5 months) is $20 and one adult/senior cat (5 months and older) is $5. Any second cat/kitten adoption fee will be $20.00. (Regular adoption fees for cats are $45 for adults (5 months and older) and $95 for kittens (under 5 months).

“We are so grateful for the support PetSmart Charities gives in promoting the adoption of homeless animals,” said Cleveland APL’s Executive Director Sharon Harvey. “We view this event as a key to bringing awareness to the problem of pet homelessness on a national level.”

All animals are spayed-neutered, tested for heartworm or FELV/FIV, have received age appropriate vaccinations and treatments of worms and fleas, and come with a collar and free personalized ID tag, helpful species-specific animal care information, 30 days of free ShelterCare pet health insurance, and a free initial veterinary exam.
